History of Youth Ministries
The youth of Trinity have been a vital part of the life and work of the church from its beginning in 1916 to the present time. In earlier years, in addition to the Sunday School, there was the Epworth League, which met on Sunday evenings. This organization had a strong program in Christian living and social ethics as well as in the study of the missions of the church. It was also a social and recreational group.
In 1939, with the reorganization of the church at large, the Methodist Youth Fellowship was begun which included morning and evening worship services and activities of the youth groups.
This group began by meeting in a frame building, then the Sanctuary Building, on to the old Crisler Home across the street and then in the Educational Building which is still their home. One note of interest: Over the years, many young people from Trinity have entered full-time Christian service and church-related vocations.
Valued leaders for this group since 1916 have been dedicated lay leaders, employed workers and Associate Ministers.
Trinity’s youth, composed of a Junior High and Senior High youth have participated in many church-sponsored programs. They continue today being active, vital members in the Christian community. Since our future world depends on the youth of our country, we are proud that our Christian group is dedicated to the task of furthering God word in our world.
